What this site is
Tested Air is general information about outdoor air quality in the United States. We gather data that the EPA and the CDC have already published, count it the same way for every county, and explain what it means.
We aren't a doctor, a government agency or an air purifier company. Nothing on this site is medical advice.
What the numbers can't tell you
County numbers describe a whole county over several years. They can't tell you what the air is like on your street or today. For current readings and forecasts, use AirNow. If you have asthma, heart disease or lung disease, ask your doctor what to do on bad-air days.
If you have trouble breathing, chest pain or other serious symptoms, call 911.
Accuracy
We check every health claim against the source named on the page, and we date each review. Public data still has errors and gaps, monitors miss days, and models make estimates. We can't promise that every number or statement on the site is complete, current or correct.

Maps and tools
The maps, the county comparison and the asthma finder show estimates from public data. They're a starting point for your own research and don't recommend any place to live.
